Role Summary:

The Head of Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring that production, quality, engineering, administration, and logistics work together efficiently. The role requires a strong leader who can manage teams, improve systems, control costs, and drive overall operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of production, quality, engineering, administration, and fleet/logistics.
    • Coordinate different departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
    • Set operational targets and monitor performance against agreed KPIs.
    • Manage and provide leadership to managers and supervisors across the different functions.
    • Ensure compliance with FSSC 22000 and ISO 9001 standards and requirements.
    • Lead the implementation and improvement of quality and food safety systems.
    • Manage the operations budget and monitor costs and budget variances.
    • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and cost management.
    • Develop and implement systems, processes, and structures to support business growth.
    • Identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions to improve performance.
    • Ensure effective maintenance and availability of machinery, equipment, vehicles, and other operational resources.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
    • Prepare regular operational reports and provide management with updates on performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Operations Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Manufacturing, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in manufacturing, food manufacturing, or FMCG.
    • Hands-on experience with FSSC 22000 and ISO 9001, preferably having participated in or led their implementation.
    • Proven experience managing production, quality, engineering, administration, and fleet/logistics together in an operational leadership role.
    • Experience managing managers and/or supervisors.
    • Experience owning an operational budget or P&L and being accountable for budget variances.
    • Experience working in an SME or fast-growing organization is an added advantage.
