The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join S&S, a vertically integrated textile solutions provider based in Ruiru, Kenya, as our Transport and Security Officer. In this critical role, you will be responsible for safeguarding our company premises, managing our fleet operations, and leading the security and transport teams to ensure operational excellence and compliance. Reporting to the Human Resource Administration Manager, you will develop and implement robust security policies, oversee vehicle maintenance and regulatory compliance, and engage with key external stakeholders including the Kenya Police, NTSA, and insurance providers. Core Responsibilities

Security Leadership

  • Develop and implement comprehensive security policies and procedures to safeguard company premises, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and applicable legal requirements.
  • Conduct regular security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and potential risks; perform risk analysis to prioritise security measures and allocate resources effectively.
  • Report security findings and emerging issues to the Human Resource Administration Manager and recommend necessary remedial actions.
  • Supervise the security team to ensure adequate coverage, deployment, and response capabilities at all times.

Fleet Management

  • Provide leadership oversight for fleet maintenance schedules, vehicle inspections, and compliance with road safety regulations.
  • Review and approve fleet performance reports covering vehicle utilisation, fuel efficiency, driver conduct, and maintenance costs generated by the Fleet Coordinator.
  • Ensure all company motor vehicles are maintained in roadworthy condition at all times, taking action on any compliance gaps.
  • Liaise with NTSA, insurance providers, and relevant transport authorities on fleet licensing, compliance, and incident matters, escalating to the HR Administration Manager as necessary.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and oversight to the Security and Transport teams, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and teamwork.
  • Implement system upgrades to enhance security protocols and adopt modern best practices.
  • Facilitate staff upskilling programmes to improve security awareness, compliance, and operational competence.
  • Ensure all Internal Services activities align with the Company’s overall strategy and goals.

External Engagements & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

  • Engage proactively with local administration, Kenya Police, NTSA, insurance providers, and other relevant authorities on applicable matters, escalating to the HR Administration Manager as necessary.
  • Coordinate and execute approved CSR activities on behalf of the Company in accordance with set guidelines.

Key Deliverables

Security Operations & Risk Management

  • Compile CCTV reviews, flagged incidents, system performance insights, and recommended actions for submission to the HR Administration Manager.
  • Conduct formal evaluations of vulnerabilities, risks, and mitigation measures across all company premises.
  • Document investigations in a structured format covering evidence, findings, and recommendations through a live, auditable tracker of all cases, including status, ownership, and resolution timelines.

Fleet Management

  • Review and approve reports on vehicle maintenance, fuel usage, driver conduct, and cost control, escalating issues as needed.
  • Maintain records of engagements with regulatory and enforcement bodies, including actions and outcomes.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders during incidents requiring regulatory or enforcement involvement.
  • Ensure fleet and security operations align with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Team Performance Oversight

  • Conduct structured evaluations for direct reports, including development plans and performance targets.
  • Design and implement training initiatives for the security and transport teams.
  • Track team deployment and corrective actions taken.
  • Identify gaps in conduct or performance and implement corrective interventions.

Key Decision-Making Authority

  • Ensuring all motor vehicles are in working condition.
  • Assignment of security duties, supervision, and deployment of the Security and Transport team.
  • Deployment and supervision of Sanitation teams.
  • Security risk assessments over company premises.

KPI's

  • Optimum security and transport deployment.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor Degree/ Diploma in fleet management or Criminal Investigation
  • Good understanding of security operations and fleet management.
