About the Company & Role

Tropical Heat Group is a leading manufacturer of snacks and spices in East Africa, renowned for delivering high-quality, innovative products that delight consumers across the region. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Agro Expert – Potatoes to strengthen our farm-to-factory supply chain. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring a sustainable, consistent, and high-quality supply of premium potatoes specifically tailored for our crisps production.

Key Responsibilities

• Network & Sourcing Management: Develop, manage, and scale a reliable network of contract farmers and aggregators to secure a high-quality potato supply.
• Agronomic Optimization: Identify and actively promote potato varieties that yield high dry matter and low sugar content, which are optimal for premium crisps production.
• Quality Assurance & Field Operations: Conduct rigorous field assessments and quality checks to ensure all harvested potatoes meet exact factory specifications for size, moisture content, and skin quality.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with procurement, quality assurance, and production teams to align agricultural supply schedules seamlessly with our manufacturing needs.
• Risk Mitigation: Continuously monitor and analyze production trends, farmer performance, and broader market dynamics to proactively mitigate supply chain risks.

Qualifications & Skills Required

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a closely related field.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a similar agronomy or agricultural supply chain role.
• Technical Expertise: Deep, specialized understanding of potato agronomy, post-harvest handling, and the specific raw material requirements for crisps-grade production.
• Standards & Compliance: Strong working knowledge of crop quality standards, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), and modern traceability systems.
• Mobility: A high willingness to travel frequently to various farming areas and directly manage field-based operations.
